Acceleration

Featured Replies

Every now and again when i accelerate in my 130 tdi superb if feels like the turbo starts to go, stops and then goes again. Does this make any sense ?

Its like their are 2 stages to the acceleration ? Can anybody help

Thanks

How old is it? Do you happen to know if it has the BLT engine?

it is an 2005 car, what is the BLT engine ?

thanks

Engine stutter on these engines.

so thats normal then ?

Are you meaning turbo lag, is it the initial take up that concerns you, like it's not pulling one mo and whoosh the next?

no i am pretty sure it is not turbo lag as i know what that feels like, it is more like a stutter

Isn't the BLT engine transverse?

My late 05 (rear seats fold down) pd 130 engine didn't have any stutter......did do a bit of a two stage boost from the turbo though .....go and then Go quicker ......have heard a mild remap will do wonderful things though :D

mine has folding rear seats as well, did they not all have this ?

Only from mid 05 onwards

wouldnt the injectors need cleaning do you think? had similar problems on my previous skoda although not a superb....seemed as if the engine was hessitant and then it would speed up......put it down to diesel being of a poor quality

Think it's MY05 onwards. My July 04 Superb Comfort had folding rear seats. :)

funny you said about cheap diesel as i did fill up with supermarket diesel the other day!! wonder if that might be it ?

well it was just a thought...one doesnt exactly know how old the diesel has been in storage....and its the same old thing, you get what you pay for....see how the car goes when you fill up with fuel from petrol suppliers rather than supermarket fuel....other than that, it could be the injectors need a clean....only want one to malfunction and give the impression that something isnt quite right....hope your car gets back to full power soon, regards skodanut

used a few tanks of shell diesel now and still got the same problem! could it be anything to do with the MAF sensor do you think or are the symptons different ?

Also can anyone tell me what type of oil is used in the gearbox and is it easy enough to change without having to get a garage to do it ?

thanks in advance

Won,t be the MAF sensor. These engines have a stutter problem like the Fabia VRS.Quite common problem.

That was what I was getting at. Which engine code does this effect in the Superb, the BLT?

I think that's what confused me...

If it is the same problem as the Fabia, there's an easy fix to do with changing a washer (I think) on the EGR valve...

EDIT: I've realised my mistake now, the BLT is of course transverse and not, therefore, in the Superb.

i would be interested to know about this fix ?

i would be interested to know about this fix ?

The fix has had much discussion in the Fabia forum, try searching in there... if indeed that's what your after.

The problem on the Fabia VRS is very pronounced and is always there from day one, I don't think it's something a Superb can just generate one day.

thanks in advance

thanks for finding that. Not sure if thats what my problem is. Also does anyone know what oil should be used in the gearbox and is it easy to replace without going to a garage ?

thanks
