Fabia Vrs cambelt

Featured Replies

Hey Guys just a quick question what are the normal intervals for cambelts on a Fabia Vrs ? Mine is an 04 plate which just turned 37k, i got a letter in from my dealer saying that as my car is 4 years old it needs a cambelt change is that right ? Checked my handbook and although vague seems to suggest that the belt only needs inspected at this age and mileage ?

Whats your thoughts ?

Sorry if this is posted in wrong section !

Yep, every 60,000 miles or 4 years. Getting mine done on Tuesday and my car's just done 30,000 miles :-)

Yes, as said, 60k or 4 years

Just had my belt done by a local trusted mechanic - he did the cambelt, tensioners and pulleys, said the water pump was OK.

Also oil change, coolant check and brake fluid change. Came to around £340 IIRC.

Skoda quoted me £450-550.

He showed me the belt after he had changed it (car has done 40k and is 4 years old) and although it was still in pretty good nick and had no cracking, the inside of the teeth were starting to wear and were going shiney - so they do need doing every 4-5 years.

Every 4 years regardless of mileage.
