She's back!

Featured Replies

Finally got my Fabia Estate back. She's been away a week since brakes started binding on as I drove.

Having freed calpers, new rear discs , (still same problem) New master cilinder, (still same) I have finally at the recommendation of Skoda had a new Servo. Hey presto so far so good, seems fine.

It's apparently virtually unheard of problem and I'm told I've been unlucky. Hardly an old car 05 with 31000 miles. It was like missing a member of the family. Glad she's back.:D:D

I had a 1.2 Fabia do the same years ago. Also had a Ibiza do it (same chassis) and took ages diagnosing that. After a run the brakes locked on, could only get them off by popping the vacuum hose of the servo.

Thank you Lummox for that. It has been a long stint, not helped by the fact my Skoda specialist has just 3 mechanics and one is in Majorca!! Still it's been a process of elimination and the brakes now feel right as there is some travel in the pedal which before felt solid. I'll give it a longish run tomorrow.

i had the same problem on a lupo i used to have, it turned out to be a £3 non-return valve had gone wrong

Having checked the web there are a number of occasions where this has happened on various cars. (quite a bit on Ford.) Trouble is it can be caused by a number of things and it's finding it!! My guys did say they had checked a non- return valve in the servo pipe and it wasn't that. I'm no mechanic but the garage I use are reputable and they were in contact with Horton Skoda Lincoln at least once. I trust them. Reckon you were lucky to get away with £3. I've already spent £300 and they haven't billed me for the servo yet. Still they have offered to waive labour costs to help.

Hey sounds like what I had. Perhaps it's more prevelant than I thought. Hope you get it fixed. My experience is that it was the Servo so perhaps thats best place to start looking and save yourself all the cash I spent before we found what was causing it. Looks like your warranty may be void as you say but it's worth trying them . Good luck.

well i popped into my local delearship today and booked it for a health check and look at a few things before the warrenty runs out in 2moths! and i told him it had been lowered to heneed 2 be carful as it is so low ! he didnt say anything about voiding it ! ihope !!!!!
