Worth Servicing?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, next month will be the 2nd year servicing for my 56 plate fabia. I'm not sure whether its necessary as I have done less than 2000 miles this year. I'm quite a light driver and in total the car has done 7500 miles. Is it worth servicing or should I delay it by a few months or completely miss out this year? Thanks.

Yup you must have the annual service.

If you fail to service the car, regardless of mileage you will invalidate the remainder of your warranty. The annual services are at every 10K miles OR 12 months whichever occurs first.

thanks guys, i appreciate the response, great advice.

Also remember, low mileage is a killer for cars. Having a service inspection will highlight corrosion or part failure due to age, and could be considered as also being a safety check.

Oil ages once in the car, so even with the low mileage you should change it. Like others have said, you need the service for warranty anyway. If you often do short trips then that is hard on the oil.

Our Lupo only does 2-3k miles a year, but I still service it every 12 months.

First post on Briskoda, sorry to hijack this thread.

I'm going to look at a VRS on Monday with the intention to buy. It's at auction, 3 year old, 8500 miles which I assume to be many short journeys. The description says service history to 7000 miles and I won't be able to see the detail until after I buy. Obviously no test drive.

So a worst case scenario would be little or no oil changes. Is the engined likely to be dammaged and how serious would such a condition be.

I've always wanted a VRS, do you think this one is worth a punt?

Many thanks for replies,

Roger

i'd take a punt on it. Must have been serviced at 7k, just make sure you service it straight away if it needs done, stick some Millers Diesel Sport additive in it and give it a nice Italian tune up to get rid of the cobwebs ( good blast ;) )
