Airbag System collapsed

Featured Replies

Hello, i own a Skoda octavia Elegance and take good care of it, but driving it today, sudenly the airbag light in the console turns on, and stays on. Reading the manual it says that this is an airbag system faillure, i want to know if is this comonly or what to do. The dealer before handling the new car to me they put leather to the car and mess the electrical system then they fixed that was like 3 months ago when they gave it to me, but now i feel worried that its from the same problem or is this a regular model problem?

thanks

Without a fault code read its anyones guess but the under seat connectors for the side airbags are problematic. I believe the current fix is to remove the connection and hardwire the side airbag to the floor connection point.

Yes I think it was a problem to do with some gel that was used in the connectors.

Are you still in warranty?

I suffered from this too on my 07 vRS.

Have you been moving the drivers seat backwards and forwards on the rails to accomodate different drivers ?

We do and on one occasion the airbag light came on straight after.

Took it to the dealer, who needed it 4 hours to fix but at least it was free.

Yes i have warranty, but the thing is that the dealer when they change my seats covers for leather ones and the electrical system got mess, then they repair it and now this, could be the same problem?

Most likely.

I would take it to the dealer and apply the warranty, and hope the car dont mess up again.

thanks

the driver seat its ok, i think its the passengers seat but i havent moved almost ever. The light appeared it without any seat moving at all, so i guess its weird.

It doesn't have to be seat moving. I rock both of mine back and forth all the time and it didn't happen. If the guys cleaning the interior get a little too ambitious with the vacuum cleaner's head under the seat that could also lead to it eventually.

Corrosion from wet weather without a chance to dry up, and/or the previous issues with the seats are all good candidates for the answer.

Hi everyone!

I had the same with my OII. Try to repair the passanger airbag off switch next to driver.

It should be... (after that reset by VAG)
