I am a new member here so thought I would say hi. I don't own a Skoda yet, but would like to save up and get a Skoda Fabia vRS. Hopefully I can learn a bit about them here, and possibly buy one from a member at some point - unless you lot rag them to an inch of their lives!

A friend of mine told me about the site, not sure what his username is here but hi Chris! He used to have a Skoda Fabia vRS but traded it in for a Skoda Octavia (not vRS, not sure what engine it is tho) because he needed a bigger car to use as his mobile sandwich packets skip.

I was really surprised when he took me out in his Fabia, it is sooo quick for overtaking and just has usable power all the time. It almost reminded me of what my bike was like, I used to have a Suzuki SV650s, but I have sold it now. I used to be a fan of the VW Golf, but nowadays its just expensive, heavy and boring.

I used to own an old Peugeot 309 but I got rid of it when it failed its MOT, so now I borrow my old dears' VW Lupo 1.4. Its pretty gutless, you really have to rag it to get it to move, and it's really fussy about what gear it is in. The gearbox is just awful. If you put it in reverse, then try putting it into 1st, you either manage it but the sod stalls if you dont rev the nuts off of it - or you get 3rd and it just dies. I've been told I am pretty good at being in the right gear at the right time so I don't think it is me.

I know that sounds a bit lame but I cant think of any other way of putting it. I drive enthusiastically, not like a **** anymore - I am older and wiser now! I am always listening to the engine, and thinking about various things like revs/speed/gear/road steepness/etc, to be in the gear that will give me the best performance at the time.

Anyway, now the boring bit is over, the card's behind the virtual bar, what you having?

Sounds like the Lupo needs some work - my Lupo was my second favourite car I've ever owned!
