Thinking getting Fabia II

Featured Replies

I have a 02 Fabia and thinking on getting a Fabia II 1.6 2, Is the Fabia II the same as the Fabia I with a new skin or is it a totally new car, if it`s the same it`s not worth me changing it as i like the 1.4 16v engine i have which they don`t do anymore.

It's a whole new car.

certainly looks different, got fabia 3 1.9 td great car go for it!!!!

Fabia 3 1.4 TDI ; fit is a pleasing car however as you have one already it should not stop you looking at other makers cars as it is a buyers market and some other makers at this time do have better offers and cars that are equal to the Fabia and in some cases exceed it.

Using this community website will tend to get you very biased advise and often far to much sentiment ?

I don't know if you will notice much of a power difference between the 1.4 16v and the Fabia 2 1.6 16v but the newer model really does feel much superior in just about every other way.

The only thing I was a bit dissapointed with in the 1.6 is the mpg isn't great. It's not terrible but to be honest I can see myself keeping this car until the new vrs comes out and then upgrading.

But make no mistake the newer fabias are a whole lot better than the old ones.

Hi

the Fabia is to a large extent a new car, but because of development costs, like most "new" models, it is not different in every respect from its predecessor! It uses a strengthened version of the same platform, so has the same wheelbase and only slightly different overall dimensions, though it stands a little taller. Despite this it has improved interior space, especially headroom and rear legroom, as well as increased boot size.

The suspension is different I believe.

The interior is more contemporary. You're probably aware there is a choice of 2 interior and 2 upholstery colours and their combinations, and to my mind they create quite different ambiences so I'd check them all.

Most of the engines (the 1.6 excepted) are uprated versions of the Mk1 range. The 1.4 still exists but now has only 85bhp, but a little more torque. You might want to consider this engine too as it's refined and powerful enough for most needs. While the 1.6 has only 5% more bhp than your 1.4, it has a lot more torque so will probably feel noticeably quicker. It's quite refined too.

If you like the Fabia concept, but want something newer and more modern, you'll probably like the mk 2, but as another post says there are other good cars out there too. I'm stating the obvious, but there's no substitute for a good test drive to help you decide if the car is different and improved enough to justify the cost of changing!

I`m not bothered about MPG as we only do between 3000 and 4000 miles a year so the 1.6 16v will be just right. Are dealer service garage is brilliant and any problems Vas the manager will help you with.

The other cars we are also considering are the Seat Ibiza and the Mazda 2, but i like the way the Fabia feels to drive and the comfort inside, also it has the biggest boot in it`s class which is what i really want.
