Help Needed Guys!

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I seem to have an "Issue" with my Laptop. The fan seems to be going Insane with a temp from "Speedfan temp of 77C."

I first thought this was a virus so did a full virus scan - Found nothing. Still noise.

I then have got so fed-up I did a fresh re-install with vista. Still noise.

It's a HP Pavilion - Anyone got any ideas? This is driving me mad and I need it fixed before Uni!

Many thanks,

Rob

The temp is way to high, hence the highspeed fan. The cause will most likely be blocked airvents, so check those first. Other than that it could be the heatsink has become detached from the CPU generating more heat.

What's the best way to put the heatsink back on then - Airvents are all fine!

Thanks for the help.

First shot is to have go at getting to it and then I'd guess something like thermal epoxy for heatsinks would be a good bet. However once stuck that stuff isn't coming off so if the fan looks a bit worse for wear get a new one.

Stick your hoover on the vents and give a good suck when off and cold.

You'll soon see how much crud is brought to the vents ;)

After that, borked fan assy.
