2nd application of Aquqpel?

Featured Replies

I applied some Aquapel just after the group buy and it now looks like scales on a fish post wipe.

It looks almost like the coating is cracking and breaking down.

I am going to apply a second coat but apart from cleaning the screen is there anything I need to do in preperation?

I clayed the screen and gave it a thorough clean the first time but not sure if the first coat needs to be removed or if it just goes straight on top.

I'm driving from just out side Edinburgh to Zennor near St Abbs at the end of the month and want the car tip top for the journey.

I'd do your best to get the screen completely clean first, yes clay it again. :)

I'm guessing claying is as successful as finding the right solvent to remove it?

I don't see it being a mojor problem putting it on top of old stuff as long as it's as clean as possible.

I only have 1 ampule left and don't want to make an **** of it.

It is good stuff though, it also hacks my wife off when I refuse to put the wipers on.:rofl:

try some white vinegar 1st to really strip off the aquapel then clay it and makesure there are no marks anywhere on it.

I would say clay it then wash it, then clean it with IPA then apply the aquapel once it's had a chance to evapourate.

Quite odd failure as mine was fine but i guess you just noticed the speed you noticed it flying over at went up a bit as it wore.

How many miles have you done since the GB?

Do you get the comments of "look your silly stuff does nothing, use the wipers and stop trying to make a point" even when I can see perfectly well due to the water shooting over?

FWIW even with the UK supplier it's still a lot cheaper to do a GB for the UK

I got loads of daft comment but I think it's something that you need to get used to. My wife tends to over use wipers and the washer system where I'll admit I probably like to under use them.

It's become a bit of a challange really not to wipe, when I first applied it the water really flew off at any speed around 40mph and above but that is slowly increasing.

I haven't done much mileage probably 6000 but lots of short trips but with the weather we've had for the past 3 months it's not surprising it fading.

I bought 2 packs of the stuff in Lidl so when the Aquapel runs out I've got something else to try.

I must admit that the windscreen treatment is pointless in very light drizzle especially at low speeds but I've been highly delighted with the results and length of effectiveness.
