K&N vs Green cotton Filter

Featured Replies

As some may be aware recently there was a group buy for the Green panel filter which I was involved in. Now through no fault of Demon Tweeks they won't have my filter for another 3 weeks so as opposed to waiting that long for the filter they offered me the K&N version with the same discount (I hope, not checked c/c statement yet!)

Anyway I was just wondering if there was any major difference between the 2 and have I made a mistake in accepting the K&N product??

to be honest both filters are cotton gauze and both use a dirt retention oil to cling to dust particles as they flow through the filter.

the only difference i can think of (if there is one) would be the denseness of the gauze of either filter possibly differing from the other.

i.e. the K&N may be more dense than the Green.

TBH i dont think it makes THAT much of a difference.

The only reason i went for the green panel over the others was because there was a group buy and alot of people already run them, oh and i've tried K&N, PiperX and a couple of others in the past on different cars. Green was the only product i'd never used so i thought i'd give them a crack.

As the K&N is heavily oiled it will block your MAF and the engine will run too lean. Result, BANG  blown engine. I know if three Octys and two Scoobs that K&N have blown up. Look at Green or Pipercross foam filters.

Hope this helps.

i total disagree...problems can only occur when you apply oil your self after the first 20K miles to clean the filter..some people put too much on an block the maf..this will never occur from new

Oh well we're gonna find out, it should be being delivered today or tomorrow, just hope it sound a bit louder than std.

the actual filter doesnt sound any different from the std one IMO what you do hear is the recirc valve more pronounced when you change gear.
