Don't forget that the new tyres will have more and fresher rubber so WILL be quieter, ride smoother and have more grip (once scrubbed in).

As for roadnoise and grip, I haven't have any difference compared with day one of old tyres. Today I gave them good look as they were off and the still had 1/2 thread to go.

Thanks for getting back to us Bosnjo.

Ref. road noise, I drove over a known 'noisy' road yesterday with the back seats down and it was worse than ever. I now rekon most of the noise is coming from the boot. I'm going to try my Goodyear Excellences on the rear next (currently have Conti's) then have a good go at soundproofing the boot area.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers,

RDX

The Excellence is a very good tyre, I had them on my Corsa, and they were WAY quieter and gripped far better than the factory fit Pirelli P6000.

So far, reading this forum, I understood that someone has just put the carpet bellow the spare wheel and got big improvement

Yep, that was me!

It did improve it, a bit, but I need more.

Now think I'll use some sound deadening stuff in the boot. I think it's the lack of sound proofing in these cars that's the main problem.

I'd agree.

Depending on whether I decide it's a keeper or I replace it, then I would be getting the whole floor pan done.

Does anybody know if it's easy to remove those carpets from the sidewalls in the boot. I guess if I go soundproofing the boot, I'd need to do the walls on both sides of the boot. But for that, I first need to remove linning. I don't even know if I can put anything bellow my spare wheel as it's 225 and it fits just bellow boot floor mat. If I rise the wheel I don't know how will it be.

Yeah, I'd be interested to know how easy it is to lift the carpet as well.

Anyone? Please?

I think you will be delighted with the Pirelli P zero Rossos. Im on my second set. Grip in all conditions is excellent, road noise also is very quiet and they seem to wear well too. Hope you feel reassured, they would certainly be my choice.

Thanks for that.

What pressure you use on them?
