Battery being drained and Servotronic K92 lamp on.

Featured Replies

I was called out to jump start the wife's Y reg Fabia 1.4 MPI, then found steering very heavy and pas error lamp on, managed to get home. Charged battery overnight but when connecting the -ve terminal noticed large spark even though ignition was off and no auxillaries on so something is shorting. I know the PAS motor draws a lot of power, how best to isolate faultand test if it is the sensor or motor or something else.

Regards Rocc.

The terminal will spark when you put it back on.

This is because you are making the circuit "whole" again.

The lamps should go out once the car learnes when its going in a straight ahead position again.

I'll back that up, the door locks will probably be one of the "users" that causes a short duration power surge at battery reconnect time. That is why its best just to fit the leads on quickly and not let lots of surges to occur as it makes>breaks>makes. Are you sure that you don't have a battery or charging system problem rather than a constant battery drain like a cooling fan etc?

Hi guys note what you say but; it was quite a spark some current there, will connect up tomorrow, see if it retains charge and check driving.
