Toyota Verso 2.2D4D SR

Featured Replies

Recently bought a Verso 2.2D4D SR for the wife so thought I would put a little review in here.

First impressions are of a well made and put together car. The interior feels solid and robust so ideal for a family. The SR spec is also very generous for the money with MP3 autochanger, front/rear parking sensors, cruise control and privacy glass.

The car is not as big as I thought (about the same length as a Octy) but it is quite tall. However, it does make the most of the space and has seating for 7 people. The back two seats are more for use by kids or adults for shortish journeys. With all seats up there is next to no boot space but for the size of car this is expected (most competitors of this size only manage to get 5 seats so nice to have the option for more). The seating is fully flexible with each seat folding separately and flat into the floor. We have had 4 adults and one child (in child seat) in the car with all our luggage for a week away and we were all comfortable (and I am 6'4).

The engine is quiet and refined on the motorway (and much better than the octy pd in town). It comes with a 6 speed box as standard and will easily manage 50mpg on a long run (good considering size of car and the fact it has only done 2000miles). The car also handles pretty well considering its size. Yes there is body roll and it is no sports car but it is competent and comfortable (certainly does not feel like you are going to tip over everytime you take a roundabout fast).

The stereo is good with clear sound etc. The optional ipod connection works well and also charges your ipod as you go along. The handsfree bluetooth kit also works well understanding the voice commands well. The only negative is there is no screen to see you address book so it is full driven by voice recognition which can be a little tiresome.

The only other negative so far is we have had to have the front brake discs replaced on warranty already due to scoring (a commom problem looking at the toyota forum). But this issue was quickly resolved with no problems so not too bothered by it.

In summary this is a great car if you have a family and only really need a 5 seat car for most of the time but would like the ability to take a few more people (i.e. if you have grandparents etc to stay or taking kids + friends somewhere).

Hope this is useful

Certainly useful
