paintwork on VRS Spoiler

Featured Replies

Have been the proud owner of an Octavia VRS for 2 years now and still love it.

However recently some strange staining has appeared on the rear spoiler. We took it to the local dealer and he said that water has got in though the laquer and has stained the paint underneath. You can see this by rubbing the surface after it has rained and seeing the trapped water moving about!

Its not covered by the paint warranty so I'd like some advice please. A new spoiler is £250.....dont really want to pay that! I have got a compressor so could strip it back and respray and laquer it. Is this a tricky job and where would I get the paint from? Anyone know of a cheaper source for a replacement etc. thanks people:O

How far do you intend stripping back?

Just rub it back, reprimer and respray. A local bodyshop shouldn't charge too much for doing that and tbh, for all the hassle of getting the paint and so forth, for such a small job a decent bodyshop may be the best option.
