suspension tuning / set up

Featured Replies

do you think the suspension is set up differently for different engines ?

"also includes low-profile 40-section tyres on 18" wheels. These do not suit the suspension settings which go with the 140bhp 2.0 TDI turbo diesel engine, and the ride is fussier than it should be as a result.

But I've also driven a Superb with the similar-sized 170bhp TDI The suspension settings seem to be slightly different on this car, and that makes a world of difference - the ride is substantially better, and it's matched by handling which feels extraordinarily nimble considering the size of the car"

i have driven both these engines but the 170 was in an SE spec car so i presumed the ride was better due to the smaller wheels. maybe not just the smaller wheels ?

do you think the SE and elegance will have different suspension set-ups given the same engine ?

Good question. I read the same review, and it made me wonder.

Personally, I can't really see it, but you never know. Only way to be sure would be to look at the parts database and see if the suspension components listed for each car are different. You could also ask your dealer to give retailer support a call, and see if they can find out.

Just spoke to my local dealer, and all of the suspension components on the 140 and 170 TDI cars is the same. Same part numbers for everything.

In theory, this ought to mean that both cars ride the same.

apart form the wheels / tyres affecting the ride- which they do.

was he comparing differnt engined cars with the same spec level or looking across the whole range i wonder ? (see my other thread titled "the plot thickens")

maybe the seats are harder hehe

NOPE. same seats !

He was only comparing 140 and 170 Elegance models, as these were the only cars that he had VINs for.

I can believe that the suspension might be different on the SE, but don't see why it would stop you from fitting different sized wheels.
