hey all,

got my self in to a bit of a pickle with my sisters car,

it's a 2001 sdi, and basically can't get the drivers door open at all.

the inside handle won't work, the cable has snapped,

the outside handle won't open the door either.

and the door lock spins round and round lol.

managed to get the door panel off a bit so i can grab the broken door cable but even wth vise grips tugging it it still won't open it feels like it's jammed or something along these lines...

all other doors open close and lock fine.

anyone any ideas?? i've had a search on here but can't really pick any pointers out.

i have the repair kit for the barel and lock and a new cable,

Did you do any work on the door before the problem started?

What do you hear when you press the unlock button on the armrest or unlock the passenger side door?

do these cars have deadlocks? If so, then I would suggest the deadlock has failed in the "locked" position. All you have to do is figure out where it is in the lock mechanism and "pop it" manually...

the lock was in fact jammed, had to do it the brutal way and hit it. the shock must have freed it off, still need a new lock though, so happy the door is open
