Navigation CD for MFD2

Featured Replies

I'm currently keeping my eye on an MFD2 - price is OK now, but if it still will be when the auction ends I don't know.

Anyway, this unit comes with the GPS receiver, however it doesn't seem to come with the Sat Nav CD.

Can somebody point me at the exact CD I would need to purchase with this unit - where I can get it from etc?

Or just the price of the CD.

There is another auction going for a unit with CD - if the price of the CD makes it more expensive....you get the idea :)

The correct disks are not cheap to buy, and somewhere around £100 for the current one.

Which MFD2 are you going for, the CD based skoda one or a CD or DVD based VW one.

It's the DX type software by Blaupunkt that you will need, as Manny says they aren't cheap.

Well ...... to buy they are not cheap ;)

LOL

I'm afraid I must ignore your little tease there :)

I am actually somebody who is totally against piracy of all types.

To give you an example - at home me and wife each have a desktop PC.

We allso own a laptop and I also have a server.

All 4 of these machines are 100% license legal on every single piece of software they run.

Right down to the 3 copies (server doesn't require) of WinZip I bought.

I don't allow pirate music or movies in the house, certainly don't download them.

I'm just totally anti-piracy.

I'm still up in the air at the moment as to which unit I'm looking to buy (thanks again Stu - your patience via PM is Legendary!)

I'm currently watching:

MFD2 - CD, Skoda Green, With everything - £300 + Delivery

MFD2 - CD, Skoda Green, GPS Receiver and that's all - Currently £92 + £45 Delivery (3 days to run)

MFD3 - VW Red and everything I need - Low price at moment, £25 Delivery, 3 days to run and 0 rated seller :(

MFD3 - VW Red and everything I need - Low price at moment, 4 days to run but trusted seller

I don't expect the MFD3's to remain near the prices they are and I can't really justify the £700 for one.

If I can get one at bargain price then I will, otherwise I shall probably stick to Skoda Green CD MFD2.

Has anyone here put a VW Red unit in their Skoda?

Does the red look silly with the rest of the illuminations in Green?

Does the VW logo on boot-up annoy you?

Has anybody looked at changing that Boot Logo? Being a PC man I know there will be a simple logo picture file somewhere.

If you buy an MFD2 which is stated as having an accompanying map I would suggest it is more than likely to be a CDR.

Thats a good point.

The seller in question is "Naviandbmwparts" and seems to have a good rating.

Picture "looks" like the real deal:

NEW 16:9 SKODA radionavigation RNS navi MFD2 from 2005 on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Sep-08 18:22:07 BST)

So possibly I could get this one for around £350 all in (assuming I managed to be the only bidder).

But I'm watching the two MFD3's as they finish before the above.

If it were me and I thought I could get a VW 510 for sub £500 then I'd far sooner do that than buy an MFD2 for £350 ish.

VW 510 Red for £500 or Skoda 510 Green for £700.

Both a lot more than I was going to spend on a MFD2.

However if I need to buy a new navigation CD for the MFD2 then that will be around the £300 - £350.

Can you still use the CD changer with the MFD3 - or are they assuming with SD and HD you won't really bother with CDs?

I'm assuming that a good percentage of the 30GB HD is available for use with MP3's - I put MP3's onto SD and then copy them to the HD?

The RNS510/Columbus will still retain the use of the CD changer and the Aux input.

It has a 30gb HD of which 20gb is free for music.

The MFD2 will require a CD in it to navigate, the RNS510 stores the maps on the HD so the DVD/CD slot is also free to use.

The Columbus has a massive map of a larger proportion of Europe installed with full TMC, the MFD2 only has whatever is on the disk ie UK and TMC only on motorways.
