I have a Fabia on an 03 plate. It has the standard tape deck installed.

I need a CD player, and I see the Symphony cd/mp3 players on the likes of ebay - does anyone have an opinion of them? Plus, the mp3 side of things, is it that they play mp3 cd's or that an auxiliary unit can be attached, such as an ipod?

IMO, there a pile of poo. Volume goes up or down, depending on how it feels not what way you turn it. lol.

lol so i'm not the only one who notices this!? I turned off the stupid "get louder the faster you drive" thing, but I still get idiotic spikes of loud volume when reversing or in first gear.

A few times too when turning the volume down, it spikes back up again by 5-10 numbers.

I really liked it when I first got the car, but i'm considering an after market now tbh and selling the 6 cd changer.

My volume does that too. Sent it away to be 'fixed' came back even worse...

how do you turn off the olume t speed thing?

that feature u describe is GALA and its in the setup menu if u have the manual it will tell u how to change it.... been a while since i did though.... (had a cd stuck in the unit that came with my car and i put my blaupunkt in anyway)

Don't bother... just get an after market unit instead. Plenty of decent HU's that have ipod connectors that are cheaper and work much better than the Skoda/VAG ones.

Huh? Does the OEM Symphony CD play MP3 CD's?

I know you can get a AUX in lead, but it aint VAG.. a few places make em, they use the CD-Changer input though.

according to the manual your not ment to play rewriteable cd's in the symphony unit but I have played a couple of them and have had no trouble.
