Garages your happy with!

Featured Replies

I have recently purchased a 2000 1.4mpi for the wife, which is already giving me cause for concern (the car, not the wife).......

Unfortunatly I'm not very good with mechanics so I rely on local garages not to bleed me dry when I need something doing. I thought it might be a good idea if people would list garages they have used and if they were happy with the results.

When I bought the car I took it for a service and check to :

Cleckheaton Road Car Sale in Bradford. They did a service changing all the filters (including the pollen filter), the oil and checked all fluid levels. Checked all the breaks and also changed a rear break cylinder because it was leaking. They did not replace the spark plugs though.

Grand total £170.82

Next was Chris Umpleby at Cemetery Road in Bradford. An independent VW

specialist who replaced the front anti roll bar, bushes and clamps for a grand total of £ 148.75. He quoted me £178.00 to replace the steering angle sensor which is more than I was quoted from the main dealer in Halifax.

I'm not sure if the prices I paid were fair but it does give some indication of what certain garages are charging for certain jobs.

Anyone else want to add ?
