Do Skoda actually do a 1.8 diesel in the Superb II?!

think he means 1.8TSI not TDI

why woudl you change from smooth refined and quiet engine to a bag of spanners rattly engine ?? LOL

May ask why ???

Probably so he can have a nicer driving car with better torque. ;)

Nicer drive? You've got to be kidding!

I would have the diesel over the petrol any day makes the new car so much easier and much more relaxing to drive

I like diesel ! ( i have a Octavia 2,0 TDI DSG )

But i will have the 1,8 petrol DSG instead of the 170 bhp Diesel DSG anyday of the week..... (yes, i have drove them both )

If you prefer the diesel then you clearly haven't driven the petrol. Similar torque to the diesel over twice the rev range.

hear hear !!

we have been driving the 1.8T petrol in an A6 since 2002. i challenge anyone to drive it and then tell me the diesel is better. The torque is fabulous and much smooter delivery than the diesel which kicks you in the back. i pull a caravan (a very big heavy twin axle) with my 1.8T passat and it sails up hills in 5th gear due to having the torque it needs.

go drive a 1.8TSi you will be very surprised. if you base your experience on a non-turbo petrol like the MPi engine then i totally agree - they are rubbish. the 1.8T is closer to the diesel than s conventional petrol in the way it drives.

well there are most 2 reasons

1. It is not easy to sell a second hand car with gas today here in norway, people are more and more "green",and i dont think it will be any better in the years coming.

2. in the 1.8 there are 250 nm and in the 2.0CR it is 350 nm.

and is it realy so much diffrens in the noice really ??

And now guys,

here is the price in UK for the model with the options i have 27265 £

and in NORWAY with all the tax and everything the goverment want's

is this is the price i have to pay.

48603 £ , i got 8000 £ discount:)

regards

Nils

how do you get to 27265 ?didnt think there were enough options to get it to that price on the 2.0tdi ?

glad i dont live in norway - cold, dark for half the year AND stupid car prices !!!! LOL

Went to Skoda's homepage in uk and picked the elegance 2.0 CR 170HP DSG

then mark all of the options and you will get the same price.

regarding the car prices in norway you are right, it is stupid and crazy.:mad:

Well some things are ok and other things are :-( specially all taxes, they are realy high here in Norway

I love Norway, I went on a roadtrip last year through Norway and such a lovely country, I was there in Feb and it was so cold and very beautiful!

erm have any of you nay sayers actually driven the new CRTDI that this guy is on about??

i love the 1.8tsi engine, its smooth, refined and quiet. but then (ooh the shock) so is the new CRTDI. infact it drives more like a petrol car than anythiing else.

so why not wait till youve driven the new engine before calling it a "bag of spanners" lol

Yes I have driven the CR170. I love the way it runs out of puff at 4000rpm, vibrates the gear knob and pedals, sounds at best like a smooth diesel... :P

LOL - totally agree !! i would not comment on the engine if i had not driven it as thatwould not be fair. but i have driven it and it is still a diesel - torque band too narrow, runs out of puff and ratlles the cabin. takes the edge of the car being a "refined" car

it seems to be diffrent opinion's about what is best, i gues both have its strenght :) anyhow guy's tomorrow my wife and i are going on 18 day's holiday in thailand(hua Hin), hope we get som nice weather.:):)

In all fairness, they are both excellent engines, and I'm sure you will enjoy your new car when it arrives!
