Confused!?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, i recently baught a Chip for my Octy...

It wasnt that exspensive, BUT after reading numerous reviews i thought hey why not....

Its a chip that plugs into the 'Fuel Temperature Sensor'

1) The Chip is for ALL VW/AUDI PD TDi's (Inclusing Skodas and Seats)

2) I have a Y Reg 2001 1.9 TDi Elegance (Not sure as to what Engine it actually has)

3) I have no clue where the Sensor is?

4) Have i even got a PD TDi Engine, because all the plugs that look like the same conectors are slightly bigger than the ones on the Unit i am fitting.

The conectors on the car have 1JO 973 722 on them, and the ones on the Unit have 702 at the end.

Any help ASAP will be much appreciated!!!!!

Lol :)

I think we have another case of a "resistor" chip?

I have just checked the manual and i have the 81KW Engine.

No you dont have a PD engine,

the chip you have bought is just a simple resistor that fools the ecu into injecting more fuel. The results will once the car realises something is wrong will result in the engine light coming on, and the extra fuel can lead to bore wash eventually.

There is no real alternative to a proper remap, yes they cost more but you get what you pay for. The chip you have whilst cheap could work out very expensive in the long run.

What is the PD engine then? Whats the difference?

Not sure on all the differences, but iirc, the PD has a pump per injector, where as the non PD just has one pump.

the 90 and 110 are non-PD, but the newer 130 is a PD engine. I believe all the diesel engines in the Octy 2 are PD.

Stay away from those nasty resistors/chips:thumbdwn:

Just don't do it. I would just get your money back.

Reasons:

1. It's likely to be a resistor - not a chip

2. It will damage your engine in the long run.

3. It will put the engine fault light on.

4. You will have trouble getting insurance. Even companies who specialize in insuring remapped/modded cars want to know exactly what they are dealing with. A mate of mine was refused with a 'tuning box' but had no trouble with a Jabba remap for his Seat Leon.

I didnt think there were people out there that still fell for this?

You will be suprised :) Now chuck it in the bin :)

Yes you would be suprised.....

Unfortunately we cant all have superior knowledge of these things, noted and in bin.
