Need a Service

Featured Replies

Hi

Got a 2005 1.9 tdi superb elegance with 36k and my maxidot keeps telling me i need a service :( i live near peterborough!

What is my best option???

Cheers

Bill

Depending on the registration date of your car, you're probably out of warranty... so in which case take it to a local independent.

If your warranty's gone, there's no reason to use the dealer for servicing - especially on a car like a Superb which depreciates faster than a stone falling from the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Warranty ran out n March. What normally needs changed/replaced at 36k service?

Um, it's probably the second third one so I would guess it's a major - all filters, oil, brake fluid, coolant...

Jabbasport are in crowland, just outside peterborough and do servicing.

Hmmmm at 36k you're probably ok for cambelt, unless you cane the car everywhere.

If you're inclined, you could service it yourself. Basically it's a case of replacing filters and fluids. Maybe get underneath the car and check out suspension for excess play, check rubber bushes for wear and tear or to see if they've perished. Check the CV gaitor to make sure it's not split and leaked grease all over the inside of your wheel arches.

Fuel filter, air filter, pollen filter, oil filter. New oil, brake fluid, coolant etc.

Parts could be sourced from PartCo or even any VW/Skoda dealer.

Brake fluid is every 2 years, cambelt is every 4 years so they are both due to to be changed in March.

So just the oil and all the filters are due now, and don't forget a general inspection to include brakes, tyres, battery, fluid levels and bushes etc.

For genuine filters and 4L of Fuchs 506.01 oil (variable servicing, long life oil) you are looking at £100, a bit less if you use GSF or Euro Car Parts filters.

If you take it to an independent garage make sure they put the correct VAG grade oil in!

Thanks for the response, might just take it to Jabba :)

be a lot more fun servicing the car yourself and do a better job than the dealers

There is a local chap in March too, seems really decent!

CPMS is a Skoda Specialist in Peterborough, he's ex-Skoda trained and is a great guy to deal with.Give him a call on 01733 324251. Chris has been looking after Skodas for near 20 years now and has a great reputation amongst local Skoda owners.
