Ballast/Igniter Part Number

Featured Replies

Hi,

Couple of days back my nearside Xenon went off. The diagnosis showed the following.

Address 39: Right Light Labels: None

Part No: 1U0 941 651

Component: EVG GDL + AutoLWR 0002

Coding: 00005

Shop #: WSC 00028

1 Fault Found:

01346 - Wire to igniter Unit

16-00 - Signal Outside Specifications

On checking found that the ballast is gone. Does anyone know the part number of the ballast? How much does it cost?

Thanks

Ram

The answer is in your question :), 1U0 941 651 is ballast +control unit.

It is expensive to replace.

Unless you mean the igniter (the rectangular blocky bit),

which is 1U0 941 641

Hello dieselV6,

Yes I am talking about only the igniter (the silver rectangular block).

The igniter is gone in my case. I checked it with a test igniter from the dealer. The Xenons worked with the test igniter.

Is it possible to get the Igniter alone in the aftermarket?

Thanks

Ram

Does anyone know who supplies the ballast/igniter units to Skoda?

I am trying to get the igniter unit through a friend who imports spare parts into India. He wants the name of the OEM supplier.

Thanks

The silver rectangular block on the outside of the headlight is the ballast+control unit and not the igniter. The igniter is usually a black cube mounted inside the headlight and connected directly to the HID bulb. For D1R/D1S bulbs the iginiter is on the bulb itself. So which one is it?

Anyway, many igniters will fit although I'd use Phillips/Hella with this one. But if as I suspect you meant ballast when you said igniter , then it's best to go with Skoda unit as connecting the levelling motors will be a royal pain for any other units.

Note: other VW group cars had varying ballast and igniter solutions, and even different self-levelling solutions. So unless part number matches, I'd not take the risk and get 1U0 941 651

If you want to save money at any cost to your car, then you can buy combined ballast+igniter, e.g. here

Philips LVQ212-L300 Ballast - Ideal for OEM replacement or Retrofit

but you will not have any levelling motors logic - which needs to be there for your headlamp to be correctly positioned, so then you need to disable levelling. On the plus side, it's 5x cheaper to get.

Hi dieselV6

The problem is with the rectangular box. So it is the ballast+control unit. I was wrong :o

So I the part number i should be looking for is 1U0 941 651.

Thanks for your help.
