Octavia aux connector for iPod?

Featured Replies

While I await the arrival of my new Octy, can anyone shed any light on which lead I should get for connecting the latest iPod classic to the aux socket in the jumbo box between the seats?

Where form?

Will it charge?

Thanks and apologies if this covered elsewhere - couldn't find it in search!

the aux socket wont charge or do anything fancy. All it allows you to do is use the cars speakers as a ginat pair of headphones. Try Maplin Electronics ? Website- 1.5TB Maxtor External Desktop Hard Drive for the 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack cable.

Problem with the one i got is that its about 20m long!!! i htink you can get ones that are 30cm though

I don't think it will charge through the headphone socket. try this link Dension Audio Systems, iirc they used to supply the ipod connector that was fitted by skoda as an extra. :rock_band Hope this helps

I use a cable like this:

UK Car AUX Audio Cable Lead Connector to 3.5mm for iPod on eBay, also Car Kits, Apple iPod Accessories, MP3 Player Accessories, Consumer Electronics (end time 13-Oct-08 09:02:17 BST)

It plugs in to the docking port at the bottom of the ipod. Although it still will not charge the ipod it gives much better sound quality than going through the head phone socket. It also means that the ipod volume control does not effect the level going to the stereo so you only have to adjust the stereo volume. It also has a handy reel mechanism to store the unwanted cable.

PSM,

Do you have enough available volume through the stereo? ie it isn't too quiet compared to the cd or radio volume?

The sound level coming through is about the same as fro the radio or cd. Hence I do not have to adjust the volume when swapping between the different sources. There is a setting within the stereo that you can adjust between 3 levels I believe for the incoming signal strength. I will look at what mine is set to on the way home tonight and post it here for you if that helps.
