How do I reset wiper position

Featured Replies

Just replaced the linkage for our Octavia (2000 W) front wipers. Trying to put wiper arms back on and the first thing that happens when you switch on the motor is that the wipers move down (ie towards the bonnet).

I have followed all the instructions I can find - put the motor on (without the arms) and switch the wipers off and let the motor finish but it still does the same. Is this correct ?

Where do I put the wiper arms on the screen to best position them to get round this? I tried slightly higher than where I thought (and hard marked) position but it didn't help.

All advice gratefully received.

Irene

Hi Irene,

Switch the wipers off so they park. Then put the arms on in the parked position. If in doubt, put a clothes peg on the wiper spindles so you can see what's happening.

Have to got the arm on the motor set in the right direction?

The short arm should live up with a mark on the linkage.

Thanks Lummox, we wondered if there was something like that. That is the only thing we could think of that could be causing the behaviour.

Will take it all out AGAIN and fix that.

Cheers,

Irene
