Central Locking Query

Featured Replies

Just a quick question,

Iv got a 2006 fabia vrs and when I lock the car with the key fob all the doors and boot lock and when I press it for the 2nd time immediatly after the 1st time it sounds like it locks again but more of a louder click ?

does this mean its dead locked ?

Also I was trying to test the alarm and I opened the car with the key in the lock rather than the fob and the alarm didnt go off ? the red led was still flashing on the door pin but nothing happened ??

I imagine that would be because the car detected the chip on the key or something ??

Thanks

Richard

If you want to test the alarm, jump in, lock the doors with the fob.

Lock it another twice then pull the handle and open the door.

The alarm should sound when the door is opened.

yeah it works fine that way, thought it would have worked with unlocking with the key aswell though ? maybe not lol

thanks anyways

Richard

Press the fob once to lock the car, then open the door with the key but don't put it into the ignition barrel, alarm should go off within 30- 60 seconds.

"open the door with the key but don't put it into the ignition barrel, alarm should go off within 30- 60 seconds"

Tell me about it - thought I would save the fob battery by using the key. Big mistake - tremendous row:eek:. No amound of fob pressing would shut it up! I ended up shutting the garage door on it 'till it silenced. First and LAST time I ever used the key.

Should have just turned the engine on, I feel for your neighbours haha :P

Hitting the lock button twice in quick succession disables the deadlocks and the internal alarm monitoring.

As wardy has said two clicks and 'loud' clunk dead locks are off.

To leave car alarmed and deadlocked just press keyfob 'lock' button once upon leaving vehicle.

To leave vehicle locked but without deadlocks or interior alarm monitoring you press keyfob 'lock' button twice in sucession upon leaving the vehicle. Only logical time to do this is if you have left someone in the car as it means a) they won't set the alarm of but also they can get out of the car if there is an emergancy.

To leave the vehicle locked with deadlocks but without interior monitoring on press the little button hidden on your drivers 'B' pillar just behind the seatbelt just as you leave the car. Only press the remote keyfob 'lock' button once and your car will be deadlocked, alarm set but interior monitoring off. Only time you would really need this feature is if you have left your windows open (so u dont want to set off alarm) or if an animal is in the car and ur happy leaving it deadlocked.

To silence alarm if remote is inop. put key into vehicle ignition within 30seconds of opening the car.

Hope that helps you all.
