hello all.

this is my first post here.

i work in the private hire trade.

after 3 ford mondeos[mark2]

i finally bought an 04 skoda octavia back in july.

very basic...no electric windows etc.

a great car never the less.

its got high miles on it and has not given me a bit of bother.

as for fuel.

fantastic is all i can say.

i am saving about 30 to 40 pounds per weeks as opposed to my mondeo.

i was so happy with it that i have just done a deal today to buy an 08 elegance with all the trimmings.

its got 1700 miles on the clock[never buy a new car].

i hope to be part of a happy community here in the future...

Hi Greg, welcome and a good choice of cars. I moved to skoda about four years ago from Ford, as things are at present I have no intention of going back to Ford.

hi moley,thanks for the welcome.

i agree with you.

i loved my mondeos.

but with fuel going the way it was..i thought, shes got to go.

i heard all sorts of stories about these octavias.

you only have to drive through any town and see the amount of them in the taxi trade.

have done a lot of european driving and noticed the amount of them on the roads in europe.

thanks rob.

i got the new motor today.octavia elegance dsv.

a beautiful car to drive.

i will put a photo up as soon as i take them.

very well designed and lovely to drive.

i am sorry to have to carry people around in it,but needs must.

although i dont use an ipod, theres an ipod connection in it.

independent air conditioning for left and right passengers..

6 speed gearbox[dsv].

hard to get into 6th in city driving ezpecially with all the speed checks around liverpool nowadays.

i did manage to do it on a straight road without lights.

this is the first time i ever bought a new car in all my years of driving,i am totally delighted with this car.

i do hope that they are a reliable as the salesman told me.

they are a cross between a vw passat and an audi a4 i am told...and bmw were mentioned as well.

so im not sure what i am driving.

its says skoda on the cover.
