EGR Leaking

Featured Replies

What happens when the EGR starts leaking? I mean apart from loss of oil what other BAD things can happen from the result of a leaking EGR valve?

Also how hard is it to replace? I believe the parts are around £120 but fiited its £240. Or do I look at other options ;) If so do any others apart form Allards make them?

Cheers

My EGR is sticking (lets out a kind of thump noise when ignition is off) so i've opted for the Allard replacement, just waiting on it coming through. The only bad things i've noticed is a drop in fuel economy and less responsiveness.

I have a fully working one here, came of a 37k 04 vrs. £55 to your door ;)

PM me anyone ;)

Interesting. What about cost for P&P.

£55 includes postage! Im sure devonutopia sold one a while back for £64 or something similar so i've priced it cheap :D

PM me

And you can change it urself, easy peasy, maybe 1-2 hours of tinkering (not hard) :)

I'll be intouch. :)

EGR isn't too bad to change, only a few bolts, but access is tight.

TBH they all leak to a degree, normally at the spindle, theres no real negative effects, so leave it be unless it really bothers you.

You will here a kind of pop when you turn the engine off as the actuator moves. It works as an anti-shudder valve.

Noticed it a few weeks ago. Replacing it as soon as the pipe arrives. Thanks Tom, at least i now know what part is making the noise :)
