Front Connecting ARB Drop Links

Featured Replies

i thought this may just apply to the 4x4 but I don't think so....

Ok - Here's my tip if your car starts clonking from the front - get new droplinks.

BUT - don't get them one at a time!

Part 1J0411316D is the right Driver's side

Part 1J0411315D is the left Passenger side

Important bit - In my experience the right side is actually as you look at the car from the front.

Ok you may scoff but I've had 4 links from 3 motor factors and they were all the marked for the wrong side - even shown wrong on VAGCAT.

Ok scoff away....

Mine's clonking! How expensive are they?

cheap as chips - you can even do it yourself (WD40 recommended)!

Teflon Tom did a guide "How to change fabia front ARB" - you only need the first 2 pictures.

I paid £15 for one delivered but bought 2 over the counter for less than £10 each.

I'm sure a tyre fitter would do both sides in under an hour.

Do both for the reasons above and because in my case I did one and then 12 months later did the other.

No clonking now!:)

Oh yeah - also:

From the Skoda Service Workshop Manual - Running Gear Edition 06.02 S00.5103.64.20, Section 40.3

The torques are:

top nut 90Nm

bottom nut 15Nm and turn a further 90 degrees

Mines clonking too, is it worth getting genuine parts? any idea of costs for these? cheers.

Through the dealer the links will probably be £5 more.

There's not much engineering in them and they may even be from the same manufacturer - I wouldn't bother.

I just hope it cures your clonking!

Mind you - if I had to perfectly describe my symptoms it would be,

"clonking from the front left/right side"!
