Only 3.6L of Oil????

Featured Replies

Does the TDI engine really only take 3.6L of oil?? Happy days if it does. I was used to 6.0-6.5L for my Mondeo.

The 1.9 takes 4L.

Which TDI?

I thought it was more between 4 and 4.5 on most.

4.5 litres on the 1.9 TDI engines. I sure hope you've not left it at 3.6 litres, or if you have only put 3.6 litres in, there was still a good litre left in the engine.

As i previously said the 1.9 (130) takes just 4L not 4.5L of oil.

RTFM its all in there

I was just RTFM and it states for the 1.9L 96kw TDI PD lump that the engine oil capacity (with filter change) is 3.6L.

I haven't put any in yet. Anyway I would always make sure that the level on the dipstick is correct.

If you drain my AWX engine (130 PS PD) really well and suck the oil out of the oil cooler, 4l of oil takes it to the top bend on the dipstick.

rotodiesel.

Lol, RTFM.

My AWX also uses 4 litres.

I've just bought 5L so I will have plenty

LOL. BTFO (Buy the #"£$ing Oil) :)

Anyone know why the tech data book would say 3.6L? Could that be to the bottom of the dip-stick?

3.6 sound to about half way and might be what they would set an auto fill machine to put in bearing in mind some of the 4L will be left in the oil cooler etc.

eg put 3.6L in, run it, leave it then check it and top up if needed.
