Fabia Sdi brake pads, which ones?

Featured Replies

Just been down to the local motor factors for brake discs and pads for the other halfs Fabia but there are 3 different sets of pads available, does anyone know which ones its most likely to be? its a 1.9 Sdi comfort on a 02 plate.

I could take one out as a pattern but they only keep one sort in stock and and dont want an unusable car for 3 days while they order them.

Nearest Skoda dealer is a 2 hour round trip so thats a no no.

hi,

not sure if this helps, but i have a 1.2 on a 03 plate, and when i too whent to the local motor factors there was again a choice of 3 sets of pads. the main differences in the pads was the spring on the back. on 2 of the compleate sets of pads the springs were identical on all 4 pads, although the springs between the 2 sets wer different (if that makes sence). the third set of pads actually had 2 pads with one type of spring on and the other 2 pads had a different set of springs on, basically a combination of the other 2 sets put together.

like i say, not sure if it's the same on your car as it is on mine, but thought it might help.

Well why dont you take both pads out from one side and with them beside you, go on-line to a brake pad manufacturer's site and pull up the details against your model of Fabia - then pull up the drawing details - try Pagid as they show complete range of possibilities and detailed drawings. Then with this info, which will include VAG OEM p/ns go along to your motor factor.

BTW, my local VAG outlet is also a 2 hour round trip - but sometimes if you want and need the correct bits you have to make the effort - and the whisper is that Skoda pad prices are okay as well as you getting right part first time when you hand over your reg or vin.

All sorted now! took the pads out and luckily they were the ones they had on the shelf although the new ones have a wear indicator wire which connects to nothing. I didnt think of going to the VW dealership in town though....

We went on to Skodas a few years ago when their were small friendly dealerships everywhere, (there was one only a couple of miles away) now its a 70 odd mile round trip to the glass palace at Peterborough who's service has been less than impressive in the past. When its time to change cars I think we'll be going to Kia!:thumbdwn:

The sad side effects of internet car purchases and specialists. Dealers closing everywhere now as they cant make enough money to survive.
