Repairing dents / chips

Featured Replies

Took the Furby to DM Keith in Leeds today to get a quote to repair the damage from the stone throwers who took a shine to it the other weekend. The damage is not that bad, but unfortunately spread over 3 different panels. Even so, I was somewhat shocked to get a quote of 700 squid!! 12 hours of labour they reckoned... and much talk of 'blending'. Anyone tried Chips away round that area, or round the Manchester area?

Depends how bad the dents or chips are..

But your car having a metallic colour will make blending in to the surrounding

paintwork almost impossible.. Usually means a panel respray..

Also if there is any dents, thes have to be filled out...

I had a look at your car and couldnt tell where it had been hit.. But it was raining..

Maybe just easier to go through insurance, depending on your excess..

cheers

Had a ChipsAway guy look at panel damage on my car - he was honest and said he could fix it but it would show, and I really should go to a proper bodyshop. So if you get them out to have a look I suspect they will tell you if they can't do it rather than doing a bad job... :)

Try a local reputible coachbuilder etc. I was in the dealer and asked what they thought about the damage to my car and they quoted silly money. Infact I posted the full invoice on Briskoda and the paint cost was according to a few on here far in excess. Local coachbuilder fixed it up fine, and cheaper, blending in my case was necessary to avoid one panel standing out.
