Vrs fuel delverly problems

Featured Replies

Last sunday my 2004 fabia vrs broke down

It cut out at a junction and wouldnt restart, after alot of turning over it restarted for 10 secs and wouldnt idle, Ie it would rev but wouldnt idle, Took it to a mechanic and he replaced the fuel sender unit and all was fine again for 250 miles

Now today it is displaying the exact same symtoms but the fuel sender unit in the tank appears to be working fine according to my mechanic, he also says its getting diesel at the filter as well, he says the next option is to get it on the computer and check the fuel pump pressure and if its low replace the tandem pump.

My question is does this sound alright so far? diagnossis wise?

What should the fuel pump pressure be?

There are no engine lights on and there were no fault codes logged the last time, I havent had the chance to stick vag com on it this time.

It also had a timming belt replaced 2000 miles ago if that makes a difference

All help apprecaited thanks Tom

Without seeing the car its ver difficult to say.

If its not starting but logging no fault codes then your looking at somthing like fuel pressure. To check the tandem pump you need to screw a fuel pressure gauge into the side of the pump, diagnostics probably wont tell you alot about tandem pump pressure.

WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had very similar problem a few months back so took it to local dodgey dealer (DM Keith Skoda to be precise) and as Ive got an extended warranty they came up with the excuse I'd put contaminated fuel in.

HOW CAN I WHEN I ONLY FILL UP WITH SHELL V POWER ???? Plonkers !!!!

Just saying be carefull mate they might try and pull the same thing on you ! Best advice is take it to an independant garage ;)

Its at an indepenent

What did they replace on it?

Tandem pump changed now, Appartently the car idled for 45mins then cut out and was displaying the same symptoms as before, Is there any chance this could be injectors?

No fault codes this time either!!

Looks like the car is going to skoda tomorrow

Anyone any ideas?

I think this is fixed now. The mechanic who replaced the electical fuel pump in the tank had connected the return and feed fuel line th wrong way round!! So effectilely the car was using diesel from the return feed fuel line to run lol

Anyway a big thanks to john from john mullholland motors randlestown for giving my rac guy assisantance over the phone and of course the rac.
