can anyone tell me if i should be looking for a CD Rom or a DVD for my Superb 2005 55 plate naigation system. bought car with it missing, in any case, living in germany i needed the western europe one. additionally, can i buy software for the entire VAG range and it be compatible

Its a CDROM, what you need are these.

Blaupunkt sat nav disc

its not possible to get the whole of europe on CD, only individual countries.

just bought the disc on german e bay, great news - can leave my wife at home instead of having her hold open the map!
