Doesnt look very comprehensive compared to something like the EVOMS (sp?) kit.

i know yea i read the instuctions on it its not a bad idea using your old airbox/engine cover it just depends if it does the job properly

Generally, it's the cold air, or lack of it, that the issue. Cones can suffer from taking in hot air from the engine bay which is less effective for the charger. haven't looked into my airbox yet as i've only had the car a few months, but it's usually better to get a direct replacement 'brick' shape, if that's what the octy uses, as it'll take a direct air feed from the outside.

If you're looking at a cone, from experience with golfs, most people fashioned a sheet metal wall or barrier of some sort to prevent hot air getting to the filter to affect the engines performance.

Hope that makes sense.

The K&N on my MkII golf was pretty good though. You don't have to keep buying new ones, just clean it regularly and oil it with K&N oil every 50,000 or so miles.

ive had quite a few cones on different cars they have been quite good has anyone got one yet for the octy vrs

I have a K&N 57i fitted to my vRS TDI (yes I know it is not a TFSI, but there are a few similarities). From what I have learnt reading threads on here the EVOMS is the best induction kit for the TFSI but it is the most expensive.

From the experience of my K&N 57i there are gains to torque/power over OE spec (illustrated/proven with rolling road tests) most noticeably over 3,500rpm where the better breathing of the K&N comes into play; about 10 bhp IMHO.

I have also done some DIY heat shielding to minimise the under bonnet warm air soak problem. Here is a pic on my installation (not too pretty, but effective);-

and one of a rolling road output graph (for comparisons);-
