Ok parkers says an Octi VRs weighs 1390kgs, which is fair, but also says the Fab VRs weighs 1315kg!!!

Is there really ONLY 75kgs between them :eek: I know diesels weigh but thats shocking!

Also how much more do u think an Octi VRs will be on insurance over a Fab VRs - (both chipped)

matt on insurance, i went from octy vrs grp16 to fabia vrs grp9 both standard.

I was surprised about the weight of the fabia, can't imagine how those 1.0 polos ever move! To be fair its got a lot of kit in it and as you say a big lump of iron up the front. The 106 Rallye (the proper 1.3 version) weighs 500kgs less!

Also a fabia vrs with a full tank of derv and the bird in it would be about the same weight as an octy running on empty!

Yeah :S made me wonder if it was a good route to go... I like the look of the Fab VRs but if i cant make it go that much faster due to its weight it may be an offputting factor :P anything that makes it weigh so much other then the engine (that i can lose of course) lol

What was a though was not the increas of speed but hendelling... surely this weight on a small chassis can mean its not a great b road basher? I'm going to fit coilover suspension to it if i get one but I really want to be able to beat kev in his VTS if i bother
