2.0tdi octavia II engine power failure

Featured Replies

Hello,

My name is Octavian, i am new and my English is not very good. Please excuse any further mistakes.

Anyway my problem with the car is that after some reprises of powerful acceleration the power of engine disappear. It take a long time to get speed once again, like it is a normal diesel engine with the acceleration pedal fully pushed. No warning light on board or anything to indicate what the problem is. After i turn off the engine and restarting the power is back to normal and so on.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Welcome to Briskoda, you might get a better response if you posted this in the Octy II forum, but it sounds like an overboosting problem with the turbo. I had this problem with my old MK I octy, this was due to sticking vanes in the turbo, I don't know if this is an issue with the MK II.

Welcome from me too. :) I have moved your query to the Octavia II forum where it is more likely to be replied to.

How many miles? Most likely it is overboost from VNT vanes sticking, putting your car into limp home mode.

If this is the case, when you stop it and switch off, then restart it resets the ECU and your car will drive well, till you accelerate/rev up and it will go 'flat' and powerless again.

To confirm this you really need to get to someone who can scan the car for faults, post the scan/codes back and we can help you.

Greg.

When my turbo had this problem the fault code was P0234 = turbocharger overboost condition. Do you know anyone with vag.com to check the fault codes?

When my car started doing this I talked to the dealer who checked it over and could find nothing wrong and advised me to 'monitor the situation'. I carried on and after a month finally the turbo disintegrated destroying the engine/intercooler/exhaust system...:( all replaced under warranty thank goodness (the car had only done 11,000 miles)

I'd get it to a Skoda garage and get them to check it over ;)
