Cleaning Octy I (vRS) white seats..

Featured Replies

As some may know, i havent had my newer Octy (vRS) all that long, used to have a fully clad cream/magnolia leather L&K before she got wrote off :( which i have to say was wayyy easy to keep clean (leather cleaner & nourisher).

Anyway.... most of the inner parts to the seats are fine.. apart from the drivers seat which is in need of bringing back to what once was....

So a question to you guys with the same seats i guess... what do you use??

I have already Auto Glym'd the leather, with cleaner and cream, and looks so much better for it :D

cheers

***just read through the thread you provided - very useful.... "shout" here i come then hahaha***

ahh right ok... having already spent about £250 ish over about 12 months on cleaning things i aint too bothered about expense really...

Although thank you for the advice, i wasnt sure about using the Vax (Rapide XL) that i have, so i will give it a bash and see what happens...

If this doesnt do the trick then... more powerful suggestions/ cleaners?

Ah, the age old problem of the mk1 vrs seats, I remember it well lol. My advice... get the centres leathered at Seat Surgeons! Or failing that get a seat cover for now, as you will always be cleaning them. Worst design possible IMO. That and the stupid white carpet :-( HTH Damian.

cheer me up why dont ya lol only messing mate... i know one thing though, its a bit warmer to ur ar$e and back this time of year with the vRS seats... getting into a fully leather clad car aint nice.... unless you can remote start your engine with the heated seats switched on ;)

Autoglym Interior Shampoo works well, it's got a green label :)

cheers for that Babs... i do like the auto glymm leather cleaner and cream... use it on both my car and my leather sofa at home.. top stuff it is!

Just a question though... this time of year for drying? Do you have to lather up the auto glym stuff? Mind you can always have the vax on hand to suck up as much dampness as possible i guess.

FWIW you can pick a graded vax up for about £30 and having just removed a cup of costa's finest that had dried on and been there the best part of a week from the seats and carpets I'd say they work very well.

I used to borrow the wife's Vanish stuff she used with her washing .

Don't know exactly what it was but it worked a treat.

yeah i have a vax Rapide xl, but wasnt overy sure whether or not to use it on the vRS seats.

I've also just nipped to the local tesco near work and got some Shout! So i will try this over next couple of days, then the vax if that fails - or maybe use both, apply Shout wait then do the wash with the vax ;)

The vax was far more effective than any spray and has worked on an Octy II, a mini, a little peugot too.

Just use the vax AA with the upholstery tool, trying not to get it all too wet, give it a while to dry out and it should be fine. If it's mostly clean after one go you can always give it a second go along with the carpets.

It's disturbing how much crud comes out of the seats.
