Very Bad paint!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone can help? Im Going to attempt to sort the paint out on my mums 2002 red mitsy colt. I say red, but its more like pink!

The car has never had any wax, polish or anything done to it and is a very bad state. Whats the best product to get the paint back to a lush red? Is it even possible? I was thinking red T-cut but didnt no where abouts in the routine to put it?

Would i be right to go

wash

clay bar

t cut

polish

seal

wax

wax

Thanks in advance.

John :)

replace the t-vut with something like a SRP from AG, but if you say its pink you might need something with a deeper cut to it,

Then spend most of the time waisting your time

Like T-cut?

Although t-cut is quite abrasive, IMO for something like this it is ideal as you need to get the top layer of dead paint off before you can do anything.

Thanks for your replies, Iv been reading about megs #83. Is this a good choice?

TBH just get some T-cut that you find in a tube... as said above you need something a bit more abbrasive to cut through all that paint and then protect the paint at a later stage with the polish and wash.

Be prepared for a dead arm at the end of it (unless of course you have a polisher to hand?!)... many a pink car has been brought back to red by myself!

Lime prime doesn't cut very much, so I'd suggest something like T-Cut initially to take off the bad layer, then something like lime prime to create a better finish. Once you've done that then apply a layer of sealant, leave overnight, wash again then apply a couple of layers of o hard wax such as colli 476s (a good few hours apart).

I wonder if it would be worth paying somebody to machine polish it as the list of items you have is going to set you back a good amount, maybe as much or more than paying somebody.

id consider buying a cheap polisher as i dought your that fussed about removing swirls just getting the colour back, and then use that with a good cutting polish, you could buy a smaller bottle from clean your car which would probably be enough for one car.

something like This and then something like an SRP by hand and then a wax like collinite 476 as this really does seem to be the best out there and its cheap aswell!!
