whistling noise

Featured Replies

Guys,

not sure if this is a fault or not, but when i start the fabia vRS first thing and then alow it to idle for a couple of minutes i can hear a slight whistle coming from the engine area:O

Is this a noise from the turbo, intercooler, waste gate ??? or is it something to be worried about ?

Thanks in advance

Mine does it, i think it's the turbo spooling up slightly, probably an engine/emission thing, nothing to worry about.

Just the vanes on the turbo moving to speed it up a bit. if it's cold you will see the exhaust gasses speed up out of the back at the same time.

It's been covered before, there's some topics on it if you search.

I believe it may be related to EGR valve operation.

Steve

Mine does it too, always has.

It's particularly noticeable whilst waiting in the Mcdonalds drive through for a long time, i got to one that takes about 5-6 minutes to get a cheeseburger (very poor) and the whistling sound comes on when the engine's been idling for a couple of minutes.

If it bothers you at all just blip the accelerator, that seems to stop the whistling.
