Best way to remove side strips and rear badges?

Featured Replies

Get em nice 'n' hot with a hair dryer?

Correct.

Thats how i done my rear badges.

Then some Tar & Glue remover over the remaining glue residue for a few mins, then wipe off and a quick little polish & wax over the area. :)

Doesn't the Skoda badge have two little pins holding it on the boot?

Yes, but i've not removed that.

Sorry, i meant the Fabia, and the vRS badges only.

Skoda badge holes would need filled/painted.

Id like to do this but Im poo scared of messing it up as its my Little baby bull :)

Tis easy to do the Fabia/rs badges. :)

I know the skoda badge leaves two little pin dents, was going to leave that on but i know a good bodyshop man, might get him to do my grill as well!

daft question - but if i take the skoda badge off and replace with a custom one - how do the holes stand against the elements does anyone know? Would I still need to get them filled or just make sure i have a good stick on the new badge over the holes? THinking this may be my weekend job :D

u can just plug the holes up with some 3m tape and a lil blu tack or semi-setting sealant. side trims are as said really, heat them up, or u can do it on a warm day, some fishing line behind the trim and run it down the adhesive, and bobs your uncle! left over residue can be taken off with a variety of substances, tar remover etc, then use some paint cleaner if you're gonna leave them off or replacing to make sure they stick. leave the new trims on a radiator for a few mins prior to fitting, makes the adhesive more tacky b4 u stick it on.

Ive taken the Fabia off that was easy, but was is the best way to get the glue off?

i used meths i think. TBH, i`v found nothing that dosnt require a large amount of elbow greese lol, took me about half hour to get it done well, just keep at it.

AutoGlym Tar/Glue remover.

Put some on a clean cloth, a decent amount wont do any harm.

Wipe/rub well into the glue.

Leave it 5 mins.

Come back with a damp cloth and rub the residue away.

I gave the area a quick polish/wax afterwards too.

Might do them on sunday.

well - i removed my side strips today (and stuck new purple ones back on) JESUS CHRIST!!!!! My harms, hands, back, neck, legs (from crouching down) are killin me now.

Cotton behind them till I could leaver them off with my fingers then a very gentle pressure to remove. THen i used hot water, an elc plastic knife! a cloth and lots of elbow grease to get them off.

is there no holes behind the side strips?? did it leave any damage??

i want to remove them but dont want to cause damage and end up needing res

pray

i got rid of the 'fabia' with a quick blast with a hairdryer and a blockbusters card behind it and then with the black gluey mess just got some nail varnish remover on cotton wool and went to town on it!

sorted

By the way... dont stick things back on with silicone!!!!!! Now THAT is an arse to get back off again, I used nail varnish remover and petrol to get the blasted stuff off.
