I think on some cars it's tied into whether the rear windows are disabled - try switching the rear window controls back on.

Other than that, have a quick look at the fuses.

The Fabia RS has rear electric windows does it ?

Check the fuse first :)

Nope, they are manual.

Does the manual have a fuse map??? PLUS how do you get the fuse box cover all the way off (without snapping the plastic)?

Look in the back of the manual in the index under 'F' for fuses, then it will give you a listing for all the fuses and theier rating and position.

Does the fag lighter just push in and stay there? Or does it keep popping out? Also do you use a phone charger or similar in the fag lighter?

Traced it to fuse 42 or something - (doesn't help that the manual's for left hand drive, so the fuse box is the wrong way round) - and it's gone. Swapped it for the turn signal inidicator fuse which has the same rating, and the fag lighter works again. Tried the fag lighter fuse in the indicator slot, and the turn signals don't work...

Have you noticed that they don't supply you with spare fuses?

It's for my phone charger (and my mates Road Angel!) that I need it for - I don't smoke (filthy habit)!

Cheers for the help!

Right it could well be one of these thats blowing your fag lighter fuse then so be carefull. What normally happens is when you plug the adapter in it sometimes goes in at a slight angle and shorts across the +ve and -ve of the socket creating a dead short and blowing the fuse. Also one of these items maybe drawing more current that the fuse is rated to so id keep a few spare fuses handy.

Either that or something metal has fallen in there....coin perhaps? :)

I doubt a road angel or charger would blow the fuse, unless they had a fault.

I've safely ran my Sat-Nav, Phone Charger and Bluetooth headset charger all at the same time without problems. :)

vRS fag lighter ... ...........in posh cars they are called cigar lighters ;)

As an aside , yes I smoke , but not in my vRS ..........so I don't even know if my fag/cigar lighter even works  ....................first car I have ever owned that I have not smoked in :)

Aye.

3 into 1 job from Halfords. About a tenner IIRC :)

cheers! and does it just sit in the original "fag" lighter, or have u fixed to ur dash somewhere? picy would be cool :o

It's just...errrmmm..."placed" in the Cubby hole under the head unit (Velcro :) )

Need to wire in in properly to be honest.

half a job eh???

Just speaking from experiance myself. Had plenty of customers that kept complaining of blowing the 'cigar lighter' fuse only to find out the were using a phone charger. Its not a fault usually with the charger just how the adapter is jammed in the socket. Just saying if it keeps happening it may be worth looking into how much current draw from the charger etc you have, especially if using an three way adapter.

Actually, it's a good point. My phone charger doesn't slot vertically in - it can go in at a wonky angle, so it may have been this that shagged it up...

It is the wonkyness that does do it, as the metal pin at the end shorts across the two terminals right at the bottom of the socket.

Bloody things. Popped to Halfords for some new fuses and everything's fine now!
