Air Induction kit

Featured Replies

K&N don't do a 57i for my 1.4 mpi 2000 8v.

Any other options out there?

Try a Universal job.......????

look for one for a polo of the same engine will be the same fitment

Or avoid getting possible heat soak from the engine bay which will reduce your performance and get a Sports panel filter that will go into your standard air-box but is more free flowing, should also give you a bit more induction roar too.

Isn't the 1.4 mpi 8V engine made just for the Fabia and not out of a polo?

nope they made them in the polos too 6n shape you want to look for a circa 97-99model

quick search revealed

slightly different filter but will also fit

they all go straight on top of the throttle body so will suck in warm air, but for the sound its worth it

The 1.4 MPI engine was a Skoda-only unit, Volkswagen used a different 1.4 8v engine. Both are somewhat hopeless in my experience as an owner and working in a garage

As I have stated on a recent thread, I used a universal cone filter on my 1.4 MPI...it was pretty much a doddle to fit, and the car seemed smoother at low revs (although the opposite has happened to some folk I know).

The noise was great! Just pootling around town it was nice and quiet, but when you booted it it gave a great bassy roar that made people turn and look. They looked a bit confused when they saw a bright red Fabia trundle past

However...if you get addicted to the noise be prepared to spend more time at the pumps, not good since the MPI isn't a particularly efficient engine to begin with.

I'm also fairly sure the warm air being sucked in blunted what little performance there was.

A final quick note...the 1.4 MPI isn't fond of high revs, in terms of noise, performance or longevity! ;)

What mm does the universal filter have to be?

Measure your intake pipe and find the correct filter ;)

most universal filters come with reducers so it should fit any, hence the term "UNIVERSAL"

when i fitted mine i just took the reducer out of the original airboc an popped it straight on. stil have to get some hose to bring it closer to the fronty of the car so to not suck hot in air.
