steering problem?

Featured Replies

hello

i few weeks ago i kerbed my front passenger wheel doing about 30mph and ever since then between 50 - 60 mph the steering wheel vibrates. it will go back to normal at 65+ and under 50 and no lights have come on the dash. after taking my wheel trim off i've seen that the outer rim of the wheel has a very small dent. can anyone help ?

yes wheel balance is now out, goto a tyre fast fit place etc and ask them to balance your front wheels should be no more than £20 at most

Yes, you might have a steering problem :-)

thats brill thanks- so the dent in the wheel shouldnt't have affected it any other way- i.e i wouldnt have messed up suspension or steering rack or anything? thanks again x

K4, as everyone is saying...get your front wheels balanced and the problem will go away. I would also ask the tyre company to check your front wheel tracking to make sure you haven't knocked the ajustment out by kerbing, which does happen. If you have a small dent in the rim the force may have been enough to alter this. Dont' worry though, the car can take this and the adjustment will bring everything into alignment easily if it is needed. Cost for this will vary but can be twenty five to fourty five pounds or thereabouts...but ask the company first what price they charge. If your tracking is out...your front tyres will wear out unevenly and the car will maybe not handle quite so good.
