Hi,

last night when i was driving i heard a bang from my door.

then when i tried to put my window up it wouldnt budge :(

the window is at the bottom and wont come up at all

does anyone know how you get the door plate of in this situation???

That's one of my worst nightmares!

The window regulator has failed, the plastic slides break and the bowden cable winds up on the spool. Replacement regulators from Skoda are around £60. I'm sure there are a couple of threads on how to change the parts. You will have to drill the rivets out of the door speaker and re rivet it back in. It's a couple of hours to do, I know because I've done both the fronts on the wifes Fabia.

I had mine done at a garage and it cost £195 to sort it , so if you can do it yourself you'll save a packet!

Oh, by the way four months after the drivers side regulator broke the passenger side broke.:rolleyes:

You may be able to get the metal type clips to prevent further problems.

Oh and buy some elastoplasts to cover your bleeding hands

Make sure you have all of the tools ready when you start: Flat blade screwdriver or tool for removing the trim parts. philips screwdriver, torx keys and a M8 12 point star bit for the door lock (these are not torx) 10mm socket for the two clamps that clamp the glass.

So are there the beefed up metal ones available for the Fabia anywhere? Kind of job I would only like to do once, and not every few years.
