vRS Big Service done. Ouch!

Featured Replies

Well, had the big service done our our vRS last weekend by a local indepedant VW specialist. Cost £400 all in for the major service, timing belt and water pump replacement.

Bad news.... been told that theres a leak from one of the turbo-intercooler pipes (apparently an easy fix) and a bush on the front anti roll bar looks like its starting to break up, which is gonna be costly when the inevitable knocking/creaking sets in.

There goes getting the 312's/remap early next year!!!

It will never be cheap to run a car. The price is rather good for such a major service.

I had it done for 220 EUR here in Serbia ..

 **** ME ! Holiday in Serbia it is this year then love!

The leaky pipe will be down to a weepy seal. These are literally pence, and only a few minutes to fit.

The ARB is about £200 fully fitted.

That's a good price. I have just booked mine in for the three year and told them to change air filter a year early (4 years too long n my book). Got them down to £200 pounds and they wouldn't go any lower. Wanted to charge me for a courtesy car as well but told them I'd walk. They always used to give a car out free. That's my understanding of "courtesy".

I think it will be the last time I use this garage as I asked how much the belt service was and they said £600 but maybe do it for you for £550. Anyone know a good specialist in Kent who is reasonable and trustworthy? Only trouble is I don't want some guy putting non PD oil in the car or anything like that.:)

Id say thats a good price, about what i would charge for that ammount of work.

A Skoda dealership charged me £300 for a 30,000 mile service, £180 for a new battery and £480 to change the cambelt and water pump!

The moral here must be to find a VW independent workshop before the next year's rip off!

my local dealer did cambelt & waterpump for 300

On my astra the anti roll bar bushes were shot... cost about £10 to fit a new pair. Can you not do this with the fabia... is it really a whole new arb? :( was told the bushes on mine were cracking a bit

Its not unusual for a Fabia arb to corrode and require replacement.

I can top that. Just had 60,000 done with some extras (coolant flush, brake fluid flush, bushes replaced) all in £910 with 10% discount on parts and labour at Claybank Motors. OUCH!!!
