How easy it to -- release the gear lever on a Tiptronic where the button at the top

Featured Replies

Just had my Superb recovered to a Skoda dealer -- as the recovery agent was not able to release the button at the top of the gear shift lever -- The dealer on being asked by the recovery agent confirmed it was possible but would not get in to specifics

Any body else here had similar ?

Are you saying the selector button on the side has got stuck?

I thought it was just me that didn't quite understand the fault or the question!

There is likely to be a manual over ride close to the selector lever, possibly under the graphic of a foot on the brake pedal. This sort of thing should be detailed in the owners hand book. I suspect that the car may have a brake light switch problem, where the switch is not sendind the signal to release the selector lever lock.

Thanks guys

Yes the lever on the side of the selector is stuck ie not allowing to take out of park -- sorry for not making myself clearer !

I hoped they used 'skates' when they recovered it then!

As Fordfan said, I presume there will be some kind of manual overide, sure 1 of our regular Skoda mechanics will pop up to inform us!

If you remove the cover, it prises off, you should be able to free it with a small screwdriver.

Thanks -- know what to do in the event it happens again

I'm assuming then that the dealer just did what Superbia suggested? Or was it traced to a faulty brake light switch/signal problem?
