New Battery from the AA!

Featured Replies

Had a bit of a nightmare and the car wouldn't start after I stopped briefly in a taxi rank at the top end of the very busy Southampton High Street!!! DOH!!

So, I gave the AA a ring and they promptly turned up and confirmed that the battery was indeed........knackered!

The AA man jump started the car and told me to drive straight home or he could sell me a battery. I didn't realise that they even carried them on board!

Anyway, the price was £68.98 fitted and the old one disposed of. I wasn't sure how good a price this was, but given the I don't have the right tools and can't really be bothered to dispose of the old battery I was happy!

What are peoples thoughts on the price? Just interested as I don't like to be ripped off! :D

Thats cheaper than I just paid at the stealers for a 'Skoda' battery, mine was for a 1.9TDi.

They can be had a bit cheaper than that, but if it's a decent battery then it's not so bad. Considerably cheaper than the dealers and it's fitted so saves you getting mucky.

It's a unipart one :confused::confused:

I had an argument with a bloke trying to sell me RAC membership a while back because at one point their guys were given a quota for battery sales. I could envisage a 'pay so I can meet my quota or you're not getting home' situation, so told them where to stuff their membership.
