best alarm for mk1 oct vrs..

Featured Replies

Im after getting an alarm for my mk1 oct vrs, i would ideally like a cat 1 but it really depends on how much they cost including fitting.

I dont want it to be to fancy as any alarm is better than no alarm.

does anyone have any recommendations?

cheers:thumbup:

Try the Toad Ai606.

This interests me too.

Is there any system that utilises the existing remote, or would I end up having to use a seperate remote?

I think the new remote fob could activate and deactivate the central locking (and the alarm), leaving the key to take care of the immobiliser. Best checking with a fitter.

I thought it came with one fitted - or is it not Cat 1? My old Renault had a Cat 1 Toad (don't remember the model) that used the OEM fob, so it can be done. OTOH, an alarm isn't much of a deterrent IME (I could tinker away unchallenged under the bonnet of mine with the alarm going when my battery was playing up...), so you might want to consider paying a little more for a tracking device...

Also look at trackers, some can be had for 3-400 & that way you stand a better chance of getting it back. In my experience most members of the public ignore an alarm going off

I have a Cobra on mine, and that handles the alarm and central locking instead of the fob. along with a bonus panic button :) Does the key itself deactivate the immobiliser as standard? Always wondered about that.

Iv got a clifford concept 650 with remote start and black jax and its the dogs

I've had a 650 as well in a previous car, it is a good alarm as long as it fitted properly.

You can have Black Jaxx on it's own.
