H7 80w Bulbs

Featured Replies

I was considering buying some of these Ring Automotive H7 80w bulbs for my Fabia to see if there is any improvement in the light given by the headlights.

I have got Phillips X-Treme bulbs fitted but I still think the lights are poor, especially since the headlights have got projector lenses in them. I know the 80w bulbs are illegal for road use but I feel the projectors rob so much light.

My question is this: will using these bulbs melt the wiring in the car or damage anything else on it.

I have no experience of using high wattage bulbs in a car before. Does anyone use them in a Fabia Mk II?

Thanks

With projector lens headlamps, I would choose an aftermarket xenon/hid kit for the car. The 35 W xenon bulbs will give you better light, and less damage to the lamps than a 80W halogen bulb.

In my experience, it won't annoy other motorists either. Make sure your lights are properly adjusted, and all is good!

Please don't...

80 W is high, which produces more heat and could melt the headlight plastic and/or blacken the interior part of the headlight. The worst case scenario is incineration of the wiring...

This is my experiance. As mentioned 80w bulbs will probably generate too much heat.
